True, I have a Breitling that I bought for £625 about 22 years ago. Replacement cost now ~£2400. I wear that one in winter as it has a leather strap (strap gets a bit slimy with perspiration in the summer). In the summer I wear another Breitling (steel strap) bought about 11 years ago for £2000. Replacement cost now ~£4200. Mrs Bloggs has a Rolex I bought her about 23 years ago for £1425. Replacement cost now in excess of £5.5k. Downside is the insurance and the servicing which runs at abut £400 each every 3 years or so. I rate the Rolex above the two Breitlings I have for quality.Public Service Posting by the BBC - Bloggs Bulls**t Corp.

I have to admit they all look more or less the same to me.
I would like one like my Suunto pulse meter that also had GPS built in for things like speed, altitude, recording my route etc but they seem to be either / or.While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'Comment

Breitling B1
I've got a ten year old Breitling B1. Best watch I ever owned. Servicing costs apart. "Instruments for Professionals", innit. I'll only replace it when I retire and don't need a watch with a built-in alarm clock any more! Then it's a Breguet or Baume Mercier Reverso for me.
...my quagmire of greed....my cesspit of laziness and unfairness....all I am doing is sticking two fingers up at nurses, doctors and other hard working employed professionals...

For some years I had my grandfather's Avia, don't know the model but kept good time, until I washed it in my trouser pocket and then it was killed.
Currently have a Fossil, gets quite a few comments becuase of its Electric Blue Face and the large LCD second count behind the hands which catches people eye, but looking to get a Citizen Eco-Drive Skyhawk when I'm in the US if they are reasonably priced.
My first ever watch was an LCD digital from Tesco for £6.95, late 70's.Never has a man been heard to say on his death bed that he wishes he'd spent more time in the office.Comment

Yes (serious answer) - there was an instruction manual in the box and I taught myself one day when it was raining outside.Originally posted by Churchill View PostSerious question. My first watch was a "Manchester United" watch with a football that went round with the second hand.
It was a christmas present in 1972 - I was 5. I'm no longer a fan of Manchester United but wish I still had the watch.
I currently wear an 18ct gold and steel Tag Heuer Professional day to day and on special occasions wear my Texas Instruments Chronos.Comment
