There's some truth in that, you need to fail to succeed, how else will you learn? A first time success may be bad for the long run.

It's a big thing in all the flashy web 2.75 circles - fail fast, the idea being you can move onto the next thing sooner.

SurAlan as he said at the end is a product man, he likes to manufacture something to sell. I said this to my wife half way through the show and he mentioned it later too.

Tom was the right winner. He won because his abilities complement Sugar's. He's got flair, he's a nice bloke who people will deal with, and he's intelligent with loads of ideas. Sugar has a nose for what will work, is good at business plans and will focus him on the bottom line.

Unfortunately for Helen, she is not an innovator, just a highly competent organiser. With less naivity Susan could have been a contender. Jim is just a salesman.

I'm glad that Sugar took the opportunity to promote manufacturing businesses.

I doubt the UK will emerge from its economic mess by having even more service companies servicing other service companies and ultimately producing not a lot.

I think Susans problem was that her product and the sector it is in failed to pique Lord Alans interest enough.

Tom had a product which was already established in major retailers and could be easily expanded upon. Alan Sugar was simlpy following the ready made money trail.

As Sir Sugar said during You're Hired, Susan has not been written off and there is scope for bringing her products in on the back of the nail files.

One of the major problems is how her personality was portrayed on the program i.e. the stupid questions she asked, means she is going to find it hard to get an investor who wants to work with her.

One thing I remember watching Dragons Den is that they were looking for people they could work with as well as good ideas. They turned down a few people because they couldn't see themselves working with them even though their ideas were great.
