Big question now is...how many years did Musharraf ( or his military generals) know where he was?

But this does prove the US strategy on Afghanistan was wrong from the outset. A clandestine operation I reckon would have got him years sooner...and not have created all the issues the Brute force and Ignorance method has.
That is assuming the US was serious about catching him in the first place.

He was a handy justification for, at the very least, the first half of the decade old 'war' on terror.

Anyway, won't be long before the US creates a new bogeyman.

How could it be wrong from the outset when, at the outset, he was in Afghanistan? It was the military action there that drove him to Pakistan.

I think there are a few cab drivers and senile old men yet to be sent to Gitmo.

          Cynical, but fair comment.

Yes, but never under estimate the power of the military industrial complex.

Of course I was not saying that he would have to be in Pakistan to be captured/killed. Not that it would have been easy with the Taliban around...But seeing as Pak. and Taliban were pretty close at that time..I'm sure it could have been sorted.

True many countries around the world recieve "military aid" - which is a massive grant given to countries to buy American Military hardware. Better known as a subsidy.

Anyone notice just how much military hardware is being bought by countries recently. Apparently its about the largest build up of peace-time military hardware ever.

There was a fantastic article in the Sunday Times news review on Pakistan a couple of weeks ago, the comment most remembered was, paraphrasing, "if they never had nukes we would be treating them like Chad"

The folk that went in must have been a bunch of brave fruitloops, seriously mental people pumped up to go in where failure means death.
