Was a piece on Radio 4 this morning about small scale combined heat and power projects being run in london. Using smaller local plants generating electricity and converting waste heat from that into hot water for heating they reckon they can reduce the carbon foot print by somthing like %70 for a given quantity of electricity generation. The down side is that it doesnt scale in the same way as current large scale power generation and would require a major overhaul of the national grid to make it work on a national scale.

I love the British Gas ads, the ones where they are advertising fixed pricing until 2009. What really makes me laugh is that they put their prices up AND THEN promised to fix their prices!
