In very simple terms, the energy is in the "fourth dimension" in abundance.

Very similar to the idea of creating a new "Universe" in your kitchen. Creating a new universe requires no space because it happens in one of the thirteen dimensions. Apparently this Universe will be no different to any other one with super novas, galaxies, super massive black holes etc etc. However because it is in another dimension it will only visible through an electron microscope.

I thought there were only eleven dimensions. Or did I misread "String theory for Dummies"?

I heard there were two seperate theories doing the rounds. One lot advocated ten dimensions, and were shown to be way out. Well, way out by one, anyway.

Btw, there is no accurate proof there are any more than 3 dimensions -- yet. There is some speculation and a few crackpot theories around but nothing conclusive.

I think the universe is simpler than we (including the crackpot physicists like Hawking) perceive it to be.
