There is a massive problem with bigotry in Scotland and everyone sticks heads in the ground.
I've never seen Ibrox signing away to being up to their knees.

However, this is the crux of the matter of what is up with Scottish football. You have one club who are deemed to be singing offensive songs, the club admits it, most fans admit it. They're trying to eradicate it.

On the other hand, you have:

For those who can't make out the neanderthal grumblings, they're chanting "Glasgow Celtic I.R.A" - in Manchester.

Again, at Arsenal this time where the chant is "Oooh ah up the 'Ra". Quite a few of them at it as well.

**** the Queen in that one

    Incidents like this one

Celtic fan’s sick Falklands War stunt | The Sun |Home Scotland|Scottish News

    and

Or rather than IRA chants, they've got a little ditty where they've bastardised We're On The One Road so it goes Belfast, Donegal, Soon there will be no Protestants at all.

A typical Celtic fan bebo page:

    bebo.com - Profile from tiocfaidh-ar-la-celtic-fc <tiocfaidh-ar-la-celt>

Scroll down to the songs you'll find lines like:

    Willie Maley
And they gave us james mcgrory and paul mcstay( AND THE IRA !) they gave us johnstone, tully , murdoch, auld and hay(**** THE QUEEN AND THE UDA!)
    We're On The One road
We're on the one road , sharing the one load , we're on the road to god knows where, we're on the one road , it maybe the wrong road , but we're together now who cares , northman southman comrades all , dublin belfast cork and donegal/soon there'll be no protestants atall, we're on the one road , swinging along , singing a soldiers song.
The club denies it's a problem, the fans deny it's a problem.

Even their players are at it:

Last month, a judge ordered Mr Stokes Snr to remove his controversial sign from outside the Players Lounge, which is parttly owned by Anthony, in the north Dublin suburb of Fairview, and not to erect another one.
The 60ft by 20ft banner featured two pictures of the Queen and read: "She and her family are all officially barred from this pub.

"As long as the British occupy one inch of this island they will never be welcome in Ireland."

How do you deal with that? They complain about the Rangers fans singing their songs because they're offensive, but how dare the Rangers fans get offended at their songs.

We call them the 'mock offended' in Scotland.

You can't eradicate one without the other.

Oh and Spiers is a **** and is well known for being very, very anti Rangers.

"I hope Celtic realise that, if their team is good enough, they will win. If they're not good enough, they'll not win - and they can't look at anybody else, whether it is referees or any other influence." - Walter Smith

On them! On them! They fail!

And after that long and laborious effort, I'm off down to the pub to carry on drinking.

Would someone mind giving a summary which of our resident Scots are Celtic/Rangers?

So we have went from the Rangers CEO yesterday 'Utterly Dismayed' and then we get to today and the Rangers manager saying he used to sign sectarian songs but could the fans not do it in future.

Rangers manager Walter Smith urges the club's fans to stop singing sectarian songs after admitting singing chants as a young supporter that he no longer feels are acceptable.
And these songs once were acceptable?

Not that it would be achievable, but maybe it would be better if the 2 were merged or even abolished as it would remove the excuse for this sectarian posturing and tribal nonsense.

Even though I'm not a football fan, supporting a football team should be about the game not abject hatred.

While we are at it let us ban Arsenal for "sssssss"ing at the Spurs fans. Man U can be banned for their fans singing about Hillsborough. Liverpool can be banned for rioting at Heysel and killing 39.

Works for me. Maybe it's time that there are massive penalties imposed on the clubs where that sort of behaviour takes place.
Cloud cuckoo land dreams of course.
