It's a nice place to live. We're moving towards Allbrook which is not "posh" at all but it's a much nicer house that backs onto fields and a lake. More importantly we can walk to a decent pub.

Anything between 1hr 50 to 2 hr 30 on a Monday, 20 min each way during the week and 1hr 40 on Friday

Would happily commute the 85 miles but the M3/M25 is too much of a pain.

25 minute train ride followed by 20 minute walk across Manchester. Probably an hour desk to door. Last gig was a 25 minute drive but I'm quite enjoying having the train time to deal with email and the walk does me good (tram option if it's p1ssing down but that rarely happens in Manchester).

I do miss most of the traffic, as I get to the M606 by around 6:45 before it starts to get really jammed. I live 5 mins from the M56, so quite a good run.

It is actually not too bad a commute, but there is a lot of unwarranted agression around the junctions, but provided you know about this and let loonies blat past by ducking into lane 2, and work your way into the lanes for exiting in good time, all is normally good. Having said that, you should not have to do this, that motorway needs a much bigger motorway police prescence - the highway patrol is not enough for this motorway.

Took me 58 minutes this morning including stopping for diesel!

The end of the M606 is weird, either you can come off at the last exit/roundabout, or carry on for 100 yds, end of Motorway, swing back right onto roundabout you could have come off on anyway - I think the Motorway was supposed to go further into the City Centre but it's still an odd way to curtail it.

Bed to office, via shower and getting ready, 1hour 15, actual travel time about 45 mins.

Assuming that some twat hasn't jumped under the tube on that morning.

When I was young I was vehemently against working in London because I had heard about the commuting, so I moved here and it ain't so bad as long as you have an ipod and/or a good book/kindle or similar to pass the time.
Never has a man been heard to say on his death bed that he wishes he'd spent more time in the office.

Yes, it was originally planned that it would go into the city: more info than you probably wanted about the M606 at CBRD

Short walk from apartment to Zurich lake, then a 20 min stroll along the lake to the office. It will get a bit crowded in the summer some unusual sights, hopefully not as bad as Dusseldorf with people who should never even consider wearing thongs.
