Current gig is about 55mins there, and 40 mins back on average (traffic is worse in one direction) if I leave just before rush hour.

Thankfully all my gigs have been less than an hour drive away, not sure I could handle more.

Fingers crossed my luck with distance continues.

Currently zero. Previous 15 years it's been a long commute at the start and end of the week followed by short daily.

5 hours (2 flights) at the start and end of the week usually, with a midweek trek of 2 trains and a ferry taking 50mins door to door.

I could shorten the mid week bit but I like to stay in a nice part of town.

Other than that it's a flight of stairs, longer if I go via the kitchen to make coffee first.

Same here for the last 3 years apart from a few months at a local company 30min away.
I really hate driving and that's realistically the biggest factor that led me from permie to contractor, rather than the more common reasons like money/politics/appraisals... I would fairly happily be a permie if I still got to work from home full time.

Do you actually drive through Central London though in rush hour?

Even on a weekend when I've had to pick people up from stations in the day it takes longer than taking the tube/train.

And on the outskirts of London I find the majority of people don't actually drive crazily though it depends exactly where you are whether people will let you into traffic or not.

                    100 minutes each way.

But their standard working day is only 7 hours so it's not so bad.

And they are not located in a sh1thole like Croydon with a sh1t train service like ThamesLink.

8 minutes bed to desk.(2 miles)

Other 90 miles roundtrip, 2 hours
