Yesterday had a double inguinal hernia repair op. Was feeling a bit pukey after the surgery, so asked the nurse for something to help settle my stomach. She said "sure", and went over to a cupboard in the corner of the room and brought out a bottle of red wine. She saw my look of surprise, and told me it wasn't for me.
It was for one of the other patients in the ward. Apparently, depending on your medication and what you're being treated for, it's normal (in Switzerland) to have wine with your hospital food. I do like living in a civilized country.
Now - no humour please. It only hurts when I laugh.
