    lightweights...

2 hours... pah - when I used to do a lot of night rallies we'd be doing 6 hour events from around midnight with just a half hour break halfway through for fuel, and at competitive speeds too i might add.

I thought we'd seen the end of the nanny state with labour

What's either rally driving or the state got to do with it? The article is about research into motorway driving, and there's no mention of any government having expressed any response either for or against the recommendations made.

There'a also a major disparity between the scaremongering in the lead ("...experts who carried out the research want governments to impose a maximum two-hour limit on continuous night-time driving") and what the experts actually said ("A maximum continuous night-time driving duration of two hours should be recommended") - a recommendation is not an imposition.

In fact, current advice is already that you should take a break every two hours whether driving at night or in the day, so if the researchers' recommendations were implemented to the letter it would result in no change from the status quo.

What does it say about driving at night while tanked up on Vodka?

Does that mean I have to hire two drivers now? One will have to sleep in the boot while the other does his alloted time. I think the Bently has enough room if my clubs aren't in there

Why not double the speed limit at night? It would halve the number of hours a driver needs to be on the road.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

I think that there are other laws that deal with this one. Bloody killjoys that they are!!
Rule Number 1 - Assuming that you have a valid contract in place always try to get your poo onto your timesheet, provided that the timesheet is valid for your current contract and covers the period of time that you are billing for.

                I preferred version 1!

Polish lorry drivers seem to be able to manage 36 hour non-stop journeys. Perhaps they should be looking at how they cope.
