I disagree. I think he is a victim of the mentality that seems to persist that it's fashionable to dislike him. The reality imho is her has put in some fantastic performances with Basketball Diaries my favourite. More recently he was for me the stand-out actor in the Departed.

I didn't say I disagreed, I said it was controversial. Now he's outgrown his pretty-boy youth I think he's developing quite well. Although I agree Basketball Diaries was a good film, much earlier in his career.

I can't think of any film I've seen Hanks suck in, other than perhaps the one with the basketball... but that was more the film than his performance IMHO.

Sure he's been in lots of cheesy & silly films but I count it in his favour he's not stuck up, and it highlights his versatility.

Every respect for Johnny Depp though, he is a great actor but I also respect him for the doing the slightly off the beaten track movies and just following his own taste rather than what Hollywood produces.

The only thing there is, he's kind of type-cast for ONLY playing dark weirdos. On the other hand, Jack Sparrow was a masterpiece.

Isn't he in some rom-com right now, I've seen a trailer and it looked way outside his normal repertoire?
