What I'm actually surprised no-one has said is...."take the permy job for a year or two....the contract is six months and there aint a lot out there so you could quite easily be out of work for six months and more and end up with less money".Comment

Go for the perm as it is close to home. Your missus will need support with the baby, at least until baby is in a routine and the missus is over the birth.
