The other bit you're missing is that the Coalition are going to set an OVERALL benefit cap for any family at £500 per week. So even if they could get £400 per week - depending on the size of their house, they would have just £100 to spend on anything else they need to survive. That isn't really much when you have 2 adults and 3 or more kids to feed, cloth, keep warm, provide electricity, etc, etc.Originally posted by Doggy Styles View PostAm I missing something here? The new limit is 400 quid a week, or 1700 a month, or 20,000 a year. That sounds an awful lot of tax-free dosh.Comment

How much net (after taxes) working family makes per week? The Govt correctly set goal that nobody out of work should get more on average than people who actually work.Originally posted by CheeseSlice View PostThe other bit you're missing is that the Coalition are going to set an OVERALL benefit cap for any family at £500 per week.Comment

It looks as if whoever is selling it died or is in a lot of financial trouble. Sad to see that when it's at that end of the market. Still, it's more upmarket than I could afford.Originally posted by DimPrawn View PostI'm glad I sold it when I did for £785,000 before the crash.Comment

They certainly have no idea how to sell, do they?Originally posted by DimPrawn View PostMy old house is up for sale again.

In London that would be:
Charming detached 2 double-bedroom bungalow with mature garden, own drive and potential for extension. Offers over £950,000.

Perhaps they'll get off their collective arses and do a job of work then?Originally posted by CheeseSlice View PostThe other bit you're missing is that the Coalition are going to set an OVERALL benefit cap for any family at £500 per week. FFS I'm sick to death of funding these ******* parasites. I'm all for "From each according to his ability, to each according to his need" but christ on his bastard bike I do not see for the life of me why someone who doesn't work can have a better lifestyle than me when I have to get up before it's bastard light in the morning to traipse down half the flaming country to find a decent job and those feckless bastards won't.
Thanks all. I feel better now.
