Which jobs are they going to find that pay £500/week? Not everyone can flit between contracts, taking the cash and leaving before they're found out to be useless, many have to take permanent employment where they're expected to demonstrate some skills.

They won't be required to earn that much when all they have to finance is a prefabricated shed out in the boondocks.
If they want to sit and do feck-all let them do it well away from ludicrously overpriced tulipholes like Londonistan!!

How does a family of unemployed (maybe ill) people with children and no savings move hundreds of miles? Who's going to pay for all that?

The same people that are paying now. Us. Or more likely, some of us.

One thing is for certain and that is we can't just let the situation continue.

They can commute some of their benefit payment and have rail warrants instead. You'd be amazed how quickly we are left with only the genuine cases when the chips are down.
At which point we can then target the burgeoning kitty in the direction of those truly in need, as opposed to those that have perfected the playing of the system.

How do you decide if someone's in need? Are you talking about those who feign illness, blatant fraudulent claims, or those who are not doing anything illegal and enjoying a lax system? The former must be a minority and are hard to track down anyway.

Set the dogs on 'em, if they can run away then they're faking it. If they can't then well, I guess that problem is solved too.

By the very retesting methods that the Coalition are, thankfully, mooting.

Primarily Yes. Anyone found to have been doing this should be expecting a very torrid time of it indeed.

Nobody should be enjoying a "lax system". That particular gravy train is long overdue wheel removal.

Not as small a minority as people might think in my opinion. And well worth the hunt.
I think we should also incentivise the "shopping" of said individuals by means of some form of plea bargaining system too.
Let the shysters start repaying their debt to the taxpayer by unveiling the whereabouts and habits of other villains.
Time to kick ass and take names!!

I liked the woman in BBC London last night from ISLINGTON!!! with depression a depressed husband and three children in a £700 per week three bedroom house, saying 'I can't deal with this, I have to put it all in a little box in my head, we will lose our house and have to live in a b&b and my children will be taken into care'

                    OR

THEY COULD MOVE TO SOMEWHERE AFFORDABLE, it's not like they need to get into the city for their work is it?

Even under Labour their were TV advert campaigns targeted at fraudsters. I can't remember if they were explicitly encouraging people to squeal on their neighbours or not?
