I dont remember saying he was a nice bloke. I do remember saying he might even be a drug dealer.
what do they call it when you invent a quote and then attack it ?

Even if he's not a nice bloke, even if he's a drug dealer, does he not have the right to defend himself somehow? Not necessarily with a knife; we've been over that, but I don't see how 'being a nasty individual' affects his right to self defence.Originally posted by EternalOptimist View PostBlooming heck, my memory.

Didn't you say he was your daughter's friend? From that it sounded like you were vouching for him not being a violent idiot.Originally posted by EternalOptimist View PostBlooming heck, my memory.

In fact a little bit of hand to hand combat now and then is de rigeur in Bootle. Its the effect on the family and the first offence aspect plus the so called zero tolerance thats bothered me.
I mean, hands up all those here who have ever carried a knife or similar for self defence

A taxi is quite a good means of self defence. Close the door and drive away. If they're in the car, open the door, grab the keys and run away.Originally posted by Mich the Tester View PostEven if he's not a nice bloke, even if he's a drug dealer, does he not have the right to defend himself somehow? See the problem the police have is that they are not the Judiciary, nor are they the ones who decide on whether or not to prosecute. They are simply the upholders of the law. As someone stated, it is an offensive weapon. It is for the courts to decide whether or not he had it for legitimate reasons.
The Police are meant to remain objective.
Don't forget, he could so easy have turned out to be another Worboys
On a personal note, he's an idiot for keeping a bladed weapon for self defence. Baseball, glove and bat in the boot with some sports kit is easily explainable. Swap Baseball for cricket gear seeing how it's Engurlund.
Maglite under the drivers seat for easy access. Job done."I hope Celtic realise that, if their team is good enough, they will win. If they're not good enough, they'll not win - and they can't look at anybody else, whether it is referees or any other influence." - Walter Smith
