Well, you'll just have to lower your expectations. Not just you, but most 'working' people will have to right across the western world.
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

I notice it's all the £500 a day contractors who are quick to criticise the general working population for their lack of foresight and preparation, a vast majority of people in this country are living month to month on an ever tighter budget and contrary to popular CUK belief they aren't all innumerate feckless idiots living on credit.

You lot just aren't competing with that sort of competition at your 'heady' level, it's tough out there so show a little humility FFS.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

Oh, I’m sorry….I seem to be lost. I was looking for the sane side of town. I’d ask you for directions, but I have a feeling you’ve never been there and I’d be wasting my time.

The going rate for foreigners is not the same as the local going rate

I read an article in the Flemish press about 14000 unskilled jobs that no one wants. Its a European problem
In Belgium you get 750 EUR on the dole.

Unskilled jobs pay around 1500-1600 EUR, after taxes, you get 800-900 EUR.

People are not idiots, and they realize that, for 150 Euros more, ain't worth it.

The root cause of all this is welfarism. Welfarism must be scrapped if the decay of Western societies has to be stopped.

Dear me, what a load of drivel on here from those contemptuous of ordinary British people. Even if some do lack the qualifications and drive to take these jobs we should be doing them and ourselves a favour and forcing them to do so rather than squander our whole identity as a nation on excessive immigration. Whatever you choose to call it (and I only ask you to be consistent) an identity of their own is important to all human beings.

It usually provides no long term solutions anyway. Compare the ethnic proportions of nurses and patients in the 60s and see what it is now, check the hospital studies, an alleviation of a problem has become an exacerbation. Look at how we took in so many to rescue our textile and pottery industries. Where are those industries now? Did we have a shortage of taxi drivers at the time? I don't recall it.

Re background checks/criminal record checks. M The T is quite correct, it is not a level playing field as the equivalent of CRB checks do not exist in many other countries and no such checks are possible for the time before migrants eneterd the UK. References are also hard to verify and often not taken up. The checking is so skimpy that many instances of staff in care homes have been found to be illegals. Like this case:

Until we have a system whereby it is impossible to be even remotely near to being better off staying at home, these problems will persist.
Roll on the day the benefits gravy train, that so many malingerers are currently riding on, hits the buffers.

There are those of us of course who would actually prefer that those much like your good self with looks that should come with an 18 age restriction, remain safely in your bedsit, out of sight and mind of us normal hard working British people.
