I'm neither northern nor a pleb... although sometimes I think both would be an advantage.
"Infraction" is a word never used in real life, only by police officers and so on. Like "proceeding".

Calling the warning message an infraction is not actually correct. The infraction is the offence committed.

Yes, but you commit an infraction and receive a message. If the forum software calls the message an infraction then it's subverting the English language.
