Just finished this. Given the circumstances enjoyable seems the wrong word but was definitely worth reading.

On the one hand I'm sad a great author has died, mainly because as a big fan of his SF I've read all but the latest one.
On the other, I've barely read any of his non-SF and have virtually the whole back-catalog to look forward to.


Currently, I am re-reading the Dark Tower series for the first time.

Just finished "Sons of Thunder", the last of the Raven trilogy by Giles Kristian, about the adventures of a band of Vikings in England, France, and even Constantinople.

Excellent, highly recommended - Look at the comments on that site by authors such as Ben Kane and Bernard Cornwall, who now have some serious competition!

Bedtime reading: "The Racketeer" by John Grisham. - up to his usual high standards.


Serious "reading": "Introduction to Scientific Programming and Simulation using R" - by Jones , Malardet and Robinson - the best book for learning to program in R as opposed to using it for stats. Thought I'd left programming behind for good, but it turns out one needs to know a little more to munge the data prior to analysis. Quite enjoying my return to programming after a few years though I wouldn't want to do this full time.
