Worth a holiday?

Depends. Several Danes I know have been to Scotland on holiday and noticed a significant improvement in service when they let it be known they were not English.

So, are you English or able to convincingly bluff that you're not?

Some bits of scotland are really nice, although they do tend be nice because they are almost completely devoid of people (scottish or otherwise).
This also means there is proper wilderness in scotland - i.e. if you hiking there is no handy path to follow unlike the theme park that is the lake district.

Scandinavia has the advantage that you'll be able to understand their English.

Had some good holidays in Scotland as a kid, but don't pick the week Glasgae is on holiday.
