So how much will the family get?

Once a fallguy has been found to prosecute in a public trial (which will be run by the tabloids) how much money do you think the geezers family in Brazil will get?

I bet what Menenzes family will get will be a hell of a lot more than all of the 57 families put together from the 7/7 bombings! Im also willing to bet the payments will be made with all haste and wont take anywhere near as long as it did for assistance to get to the survivors of the 7/7 bombings.

Oh, just remembered something. Was talking about the bombings last night when someone was going on about how the law stopped the government from making payments and how any changes now wont benefit those who were involved in the 7/7 attacks.

But then it occured to me...if the Government can make tax law retrospective then they can damn well do the same for the survivors and the victims families from the 7/7 attacks!

You made one bet, and said you willing to bet yet again:

            1) I bet what Menenzes family will get will be a hell of a lot more than all of the 57 families put together from the 7/7 bombings!

            2) Im also willing to bet the payments will be made with all haste and wont take anywhere near as long as it did for assistance to get to the survivors of the 7/7 bombings.

Hence, question how much you did bet for #1, and how much you willing to bet for #2?

It looks like you're forgetting something important. "Payments" don't just come from heaven. Somebody pays. In the Menenzes case it is (basically) those who did wrong who will pay. So it's right that they pay promptly and well. For 7/7 the Government is not making amends for its own murderous mistake. It's not the same situation.

Just what problem do you have with one victim's compensation possibly, just possibly, being substantial? Anger at others not doing so well? Grow up.

Nobody's auctioning victimhood. When the police, that is the State, that is WE, do wrong, I for one regret it and want a response. A reponse appropriate to having done wrong to our victim. Not a whinge about a comparison to the treatment of terrorists' victims.

                  - yeah right the British taxpayer will stump up the cash, the policemen have already been on an all expenses paid holiday!
Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.

If you won't feel in the least responsible for your government's actions, don't be surprised if it doesn't feel responsible for you.
