Still pretence here that Israelis or the BBC etc are idiotic enough to invent an Aljazeera news item. Don't you think that would be a tad obvious? Wouldn't somebody on the Palestinian side have said so by now? Wouldn't the papers and umpteen blogs be telling us?

This convoy was not about bringing food and medicine to Gaza, the Israelis do let shipments in provided they can check them for banned items and had offered to let this convey dock on the same basis. This was about getting the blockade (ie the checks not an absolute ban on all goods) lifted and if that happened it would not be long before explosives and weapons were pouring into Gaza. After all (unless the BBC and Channel 4 invented those reports too and they also mysteriously went unchallenged) there are umpteen 10 year olds being brainwashed to attack Israel.

I agree the Israelis appear to have acted disproportionately, live arms should not be used against people with iron bars except as a very last resort - haven't they heard of tear gas, CS gas or rubber bullets? However, nobody on the other boats was seriously hurt. If the Israelis were just bent on shooting people how come? The reality of this is that there was a secondary motive, possibly backed by the Turkish government, to gain a propoganda coup. That (genuine) Aljazeera video indicates there was radical group on this boat who were willing to die to acheive it by provoking a violent reaction.

The first ones down were armed with paintball guns, the mob all had full face masks to protect against tear gas. The protestors tied the rope onto the ship trying to bring down the helicopter which had to be cut leaving 4 unarmed soldiers being beaten to death. The protestors also had a couple of guns which had been used. At that point the guns came out.

If you pick out this incident in total isolation then I do not see what the soldiers did wrong. Bleeding heart liberals will hide the fact that the group that organised this have links with terrorist groups, the protestors were armed and were using deadly force and tell us when some of them get shot it's unfair.

The turks are probably the happiest that a group of them got shot, it is what they wanted.
