He has no come-back on this. His contract ends and either he goes or they offer him a new contract. The employer can offer maximum three temporary contracts and then must either dump him or give a permanent contract. In practice this means many companies employ someone for one year three times then dump them. It also means that people apply for jobs toward the end of each one year contract and then either leave or demand a higher salary, thus pushing up costs for the business.

Of course, this also means that those people with a little self confidence, or those who have experienced this and become cynical, just say fook that for a game of soldiers and become freelancers, whereupon the very same businesses moan about high rates and disloyalty and so on.

Are you sure you're a contractor? That degree of compassion is highly unprofessional.

I’d forgotten about it until you reminded me.

Well I did make the mistake of assuming that as this is a ContractorUK board it maybe a UK issue but we all know what happens when you assume things. Not really a case of fighting back, I made an assumption, it was incorrect so hold my hand up to it. Nothing wrong with that is there? I don't see it as crawling back in to a hole, feeling pretty stupid then yes but crawling in to a hole then no.

            I thangkew...

You are developing something of a track record for talking first and thinking later. If you'd checked Mitch's location you'd have seen it said NL.

Yar, like I read the location of everyone I post to... NOT.. I ****ed up. It happens. I still sleep well. Thanks for your input thought. Appreciated.

I guess I could argue the difference between not giving him notice 1 month before the end of his contract and 'sacking' him to try and save a bit of face but it will just a bun fight I can't win so won't bother. I got it wrong, was fair assumption. Thats life. LOL

                  FTFY.

Leave NL alone. I for one love it when he leaves his microphone when stepping into his office!

PS : NL - Never back down, just soak it up and tell em to F-Off, it worked for Maggie!!!

Well, isn't that nice... suggesting not to give a tulip about getting job done and just send invoices - at SKA Towers that would get you canned like a tuna

Well considering you only pay in tuna, its not really much of a threat is it!
