Is the snow off now? I can see it most days from the house but not checked it out for the last couple. -
Still a little bit high up but going, corniced on Coire a' Bhathaich on the north side. Lovely day for it.Originally posted by minestrone View PostIs the snow off now? I can see it most days from the house but not checked it out for the last couple.

Cracking view. That reminds me to look up the Waverly trip to Oban, don't think it's a goer this year as most of my mates seem to have impregnated women expecting in May like a village of the damned type story.Originally posted by Cliphead View PostStill a little bit high up but going, corniced on Coire a' Bhathaich on the north side. One of my mate's Dad's had a place up in Oban with a good few beds going so a big bunch of us used to do the full 16 odd hour trip. Last time a friend of a friend came up who, let's be honest sells non taxable powders which have earned him a free bed in his time. The bow bar at 7 in the morning filled with steam boat fans as quiet as mice and this boy is shouting how his dog is sexually depressed and masturbating it might be a good option rather than pay for the dog prozac the vet gives it.Originally posted by Cliphead View Post

Probably the most cringing moment of my life, I just grabbed the camera and left to go up top and waited 4 hours till the other bar opened. Just checked flickr and it was 2006, May the 3rdOriginally posted by Cliphead View PostI think I was there

Always found Oban a bit of an odd place even though I did much of my growing up in Lamlash which is hardly normal.
I was in oban sailing a couple of years ago and a couple of locals swam 100 yards to steal the dinghy from the back of our boat, they though we were asleep, we gave them a lift back to shore.Comment

A few years ago we lost a tender sailing through Corryvreckan. A year later arriving in Oban for West Highland Week some locals spotted our boat and returned the tender (they figured it out from the name obviously). Somebody had found it somewhere off Jura.Originally posted by minestrone View PostI was in oban sailing a couple of years ago and a couple of locals swam 100 yards to steal the dinghy from the back of our boat, they though we were asleep, we gave them a lift back to shore.Last edited by Cliphead; 15 April 2010, 23:29.Comment

Actually remembering now they were not locals but student from Edinburgh Uni, I do apologise to the locals of Oban. Thought it was a laugh to get undressed and swim that distance, they were shivering when we took them back.Originally posted by Cliphead View PostA few years ago we lost a tender sailing through Corryvreckan. People up there would do a lot for you if you got into harm, we dragged a boat of the rocks that got into difficulty a few years ago up the Kyles and got it back to harbour. No questions asked, just see someone in a problem and get it sorted. Futher you get from the city the more people are willing to stick their kneck out to help.Comment

When I had my boat at Largs I got involved in a couple of rescues, one of which was a young lad being blown out to see on a lilo. Got to him before the RNLI rib.Comment
