I was just reading that in the Gulag Archipelago this morning. A couple of guys escaped from a Gulag, and were free for a month. When they were recaptured, they we forced to kneel on the station platform with their hands handcuffed behind their backs. The locals (Chechnyans) gathered round, and started throwing bread to them (they hadn't been given any food since recapture). When the guards kicked the bread away, the locals took exception to this and had to be dispersed by the militia. Looking at the weather forecast this morning I'd be willing to bet that the UK will not open it's airports until Monday possibly even Tuesday but I think that the heavy losses incurred will mean they'll be more likely to make it Monday and that it'll be a day or so later before mainland flights are operating.
The reason for this is the predicted weather patterns and the fact that it seems to have roughly a days delay for the weather to get from scotland to northern Germany. The proud owner of 125 Xeno Geek PointsComment

Got the last Eurostar home last night.

Many colleagues still stuck out in NL for the weekend it looks now.
Doubt I'll be getting back out on Monday morning.Comment

heard a few soundbites from people who live under Heathrow flight paths who are really enjoying the quietness.
I can see a huge surge in houses going on the market once the flights resume and the residents realise that they are living in a rather stupid place.Coffee's for closersComment
