I don't like it but he doesn't have to resign at this stage.Originally posted by Churchill View PostIf he had a decent bone in his body he'd be preparing his resignation speech at this very moment.
I am sure I could present a case based on how the public have not presented an alternative so it is his duty to remain in place until Parliament ousts him.

Well there is strictly only a nationalist party in Quebec. The other regional party - Reform - was pretty well restricted to the three western provinces. However, Reform merged with the Progressive Conservatives a few years back. This created a party with full national appeal. Previously the PC's couldn't form a government because the Reform party would take away seats in PC's powerbase. That doesn't happen anymore. The three opposition parties could easily take down the government - but don't because they are in such disarray that that could had the Conservatives a majority. Interestingly, the Canadian PM is more of a jerk than GB but he manages to retain power.Originally posted by Gonzo View PostNot at first.
Gordon Brown is still the head of the government today and remains so until he resigns. He could end up with fewer seats in Parliament than the Conservatives but will still get first chance of forming a minority government.
It is interesting to see how other countries respond but then in Canada you have the unique circumstances of trying to accommodate the English-Speaking and the French-Speaking parts with different parties specific to those areas.
Anywhere where there is proportional representation will have a track record of governments formed by agreement.
In Britain though there has almost always been a majority government so cross party agreement is uncharted waters.McCoy: "Medical men are trained in logic."

On the bright side: the markets will do what the votes are to stupid to do.
In any case the snot goblin will be history probably before the month is out. I think he'll be an in patient of some hospital before the end of the year.
EURGBP above 0.8800
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.
