I must admit, much as I loved DT, I'm pleased that the angst-ridden, hand-wringing, looking-mortality-in-the face phase has passed...

Though we have to understand that the new Doctor hasn't wholly transformed so will still be a bit "Tennentian". We'll probably see a different side in the next episode.

Hopefully the days of the companion falling in love with the doctor are over too.

Not looking likely though, she looked wholly infatuated.

Anyone think the new guy looks a bit like Frankenstein's monster? Or could at least play the part with minimal facial make-up?

Precisely my understanding. If he's still like Tennant in episode 3, then we'll just have to shoot moffet.

Rubbish, he pandered very nicely to the 40+ male audience. Did you see her legs?

If he was playing Tennant then he did a pretty decent job, but also clearly had his own take on it. Look forward to seeing it develop, though I hope this series' in-the-background-weird-coincidences-and-subtle-references storyline isn't totally over the top, the 'silence is falling thingie'.
