The bins get emptied. I'll give them that.Originally posted by sasguru View PostAre Richmond's services that much better than its neighbour Wandsworth?

For what...
Just under £1500 per year (Band E) to have our bins emptied every fortnight, the street light outside our house still doesn't work properly (comes on when it wants to), no salt / grit in the bins (which isn't a problem now but a couple of months ago made life interesting - not!).
Postie delivered our bill for 2010/2011 a couple of days ago. We moved into this house 6 years ago and in that time the Council Tax has gone up by a little over £500

Perhaps posters here think that the council tax is used to provide valuable services.

That's the bell wringing in some goverment office.
Congrats everyone, it has taken you 5 pages to pay off one council's donation to a gay theatre group's monthly heating bill.

It's amazing what you have to pay on a yearly basis for shoddy services.Originally posted by minestrone View Post*ping*

Empty school hit with £80,000 heating bill
We just have to get this thread running for about 3 years to pay for that...Oakbank School in Aberdeen was closed 18 months ago but has still been running its boiler.
The trustees of a mothballed school have been hit with an £80,000 gas bill because they kept the heating on after it shut.
Oakbank residential school in Aberdeen has been virtually empty for the past 18 months after being shut amid spiralling debts.
The facility was shut due to spiralling costs – with only two members of the former 104-strong workforce left behind to complete administrative work.
However, board vice-chairman Alan Donnelly said the bill is “more than two years old”
“We had staff there. We had to keep the place water-tight and look after their welfare and part of the heating has done that
