Reply politely and professionally, in very small letters. And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Dodgy Agent, 16-5-2014 -
To be honest I cant recall any permies being rude to me, perhaps its the carefully constructed 'Columbo- like' persona I give off, maybe I'm too 'mumsie' or maybe its because I'm friendly, polite and buy REALLY nice choccie biccies for the team.Originally posted by Jog On View PostHow do you deal with rude permies?
Do you smile sweetly and maintain a professional composure or respond in kind?
But all I do know is that when someone is getting angry with you, the most annoying thing to do is remain calm and polite - like Zippy said, It Really pisses 'em off
I'm sorry, but I'll make no apologies for this

Just had a chat with another member of staff showing me an email from a permie with a torrent of abuse in capital letters. Must be something in the water at the minute!

I take the opposite approach - behind every all-capitals rant from an end user there may be (to paraphrase RC) chest potatoes and stiletto FMBs in need of a soothing word directly from the developer . . .Comment

Oh yes - I love that tactic! Even better if you lace it with slight condescension. It never translates well when written down in a complaining email, I find...Originally posted by Zippy View PostBe overly polite - it winds 'em up even more.
