OK uncie pondlife, right, I am a part time brewer of real ale and have been doing this for a few years and have got the theory (and practice) down pretty good. Since being benched, rather than sit on my arse, I have been getting some commercial brewing kit together to keep me occupied, as i'm reasonably handy like that. Smallish scale, but entry level commercial size.Originally posted by Pondlife View PostWell??? No one will judge you here. It's ok, you can tell uncle pondlife.
A mate of mine who has been in catering and pub management wanted in to do sales, marketing, etc, and we may be getting a unit in the near future. Thats a very short version of events; yes I know they don't make much money, and I know there are around 700 micros in the UK to compete with - although meeting some of them has shown that they are actually reasonably freindly to each other and helpful - it's just the big boys they tend to dislike. Also, I have several pubs willing to try it. I am sure the collective knowledge on here will express their opinion - and it is welcome.
We had a sit down last friday, in the pub, to go over beer styles and prospective names for such brews, I had scribbled down some ideas for names for different ale styles and for IPA (India Pale Ale) had scribbled down "Shawadiwadi IPA - much hoppiness, plenty cheapness". He seemed to like it although not understand it, and I couldn't explain the origin, just that it was reference to a, usually, Indian contractor - who provides much quickness, plenty cheapness.
So, I thought I would ask the question. Although I don't think I could get away with a mildly racist reference to imported workers - or could I?Comment

I think it's great
