These guys here run a small brewery - nice ales, in a few pubs, farmer's markets etc. Pick my stuff up from there quite frequently. The owner, whom I got chatting too, was formerly in IT as well, so it can be done if the desire is there.

where exactly can you sell beer from a micro-brewery? Aren't there something like 50 pubs closing every week? Would Wetherspoons be the only option?

Your right, more pubs are closing than are opening, however off license/ supermarket trade has increased and people are being a bit more choosy about what they drink. I believe generally its a bit of a constant market and the only thing that could possibly destroy it, i.e. stop people drinking, would be some pseudo-science claiming it causes cancer or such like. I'm not ruling this out.

It would be great to get into wetherspoons. I currently have promises from a few city centre pubs of initial orders for bottles.

It may not be the greatest business and I may not make millions doing it, but its good honest graft and should after a period make enough to have a modest living. It certainly doesn't pay as well as contracting, but I am struggling to get even interviews at present so had to do something about it.

Good to see on Bob's blog that Dave and Bob are good mates. Most excellent indeed for the UK economy, I think.
