You're ignorant. People USE all religions to excuse their desire to teach division and hatred. Only SOME religions ACTUALLY teach it!

Of course, because atheism isn't already the default option? Dissing religion is already cool, and forms part of most comedians' material for instance. Children are already brought up these days to believe that you can pick any religion you like, rather than to consider there might be something behind it. It's still not an open-minded education, it's just swung from one side to the other.

Of course I am not proposing that atheism should be viewed as another religion.
But it is, to many of the more enthusiastic atheists anyhow. See my previous paragraph - atheists don't want children brought up to make their own decision (though they say it), they want them brought up taught that religion is cultural and science is the "true path".

Why two? There are literally thousands of religions. Or do you mean only the 'big' ones?

It's a serious point though. People will use anything to justify their evil... choice of football team, colour of skin, political leaning, etc... doesn't mean Arsenal supporters are evil because some riot.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

LHP do sound pretty interesting, but then you soon realise they are are no different from another group who worship the "Thing that goes Ptang!" in the corner of the room, or the ones from more widespread cults like Xianity, Islam, RC's, Freemasons, bingo callers, or anything else.
