I think you've missed the point of this thread AtW. It was about socialists running out of other people's money, not doors on railway trains. -
Is this how you judge a country’s welfare and happiness? Door handles? Bloody hell, the Gulag was a bit of a downer but at least the trains had good door handles in the Soviet Union!Originally posted by AtW View PostIn 1996 I used UK trains first time - it did not impress me to have to open window, bend over out of the window to open door from the OUTSIDE. Even in Soviet trains they had inside opening handle.
Who was in power before that I wonder?
Or how about Thatcher allegedly not allowing BT to put fiber into ground to replace crappy copper phone lines?
And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Dodgy Agent, 16-5-2014Comment

Again, you have missed the point. Stay on track!Originally posted by AtW View PostI'd say she is responsible for destroying remnants of British industry, though on the other hand Labour probably finished the job, but Maggie certainly set this train to go into that direction.

Did it ever occur to you that this might have been a safety feature to cut down on the chances of opening the doors when the train is in motion?Originally posted by AtW View PostIn 1996 I used UK trains first time - it did not impress me to have to open window, bend over out of the window to open door from the OUTSIDE. How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

The doors are automatically locked when the train is in motion so its not a safety feature.Originally posted by HairyArsedBloke View PostDid it ever occur to you that this might have been a safety feature to cut down on the chances of opening the doors when the train is in motion?Comment

When do you think socialists start doing it? It's when the previous greedy party that won't invest smartly and get tulipy trains like I described, then it creates OPENING to some socialist barsteward who'd say - let's tax the rich to fix trains etc: one leads to another.Originally posted by Doggy Styles View PostI think you've missed the point of this thread AtW. So Thatcher and Conservatives in general are also responsible for what Labour did - after all if Conservatives were so bloody wonderful they would not lose their jobs
