It's exactly that attitude that makes all of us 'tory wannabees' hate you ******* socialist/communist/democrat bastards in the first place.
There's a difference between layabouts who've never done a days work in their lives, and proud men who want to work but were refused the opporunity because a wizened old witch had her hand in the till.

We should be running the country to ensure anyone who want to work can. This was NOT the case under twatcher, yet could easily have been.

      Wtf?

"You obviously never experienced the sense of despair prevalent throughout working class Britain in the 80s."

Yeah right, and you speak for all of the working class, do you.
Well you don't speak for me even though I suspect you may speak for a precentage of them. Which part of liverpool are you from?
      Why not?

About 20 miles North East of that tuliphole. No I don't speak for all the working classes, but the vast majority of people I grew up with are now woorking and doing very well thank you very much.

Unlike the whole of the eighties.

        And in 'proper' jobs.

You're obviously quite bitter about this. But according to you, we should be subsidising industries that were crippled by the trade unions. In the world according to benn0, tax payers would still be supporting the production of steam engines and the model-T Ford.

Proud men do not have a right to a job. A job that creates wealth and is competitive can make a man proud.
If you think my attitude stinks, you should smell my fingers.

"The redistribution of weatlh from the working classes (who spend everything they earn because they have to) - to the rich was what extended the 80's recession."

This was not started in the 80's and it has not been stopped since NL came to power.

"You obviously never experienced the sense of despair prevalent throughout working class Britain in the 80s. There were ways to drag the country out of recession without penalising the poor. It's just that thatcher never chose to use those options because it didn't suit her and her cronies. She is now a very rich woman - I wonder why?"

But yet again you cannot give an example can you. "There were ways to drag the country out of recession without penalising the poor" doesn't cut it. When it comes down to it what was done was done for a reason.

"The irony of the situation is that you lot on here constantly whinge about the state of modern day Britain yet 1. You're still here, and 2. you're pretty well off. "

I also moan about how well Man U are doing but I still support them.

"There's no lowest common denominator about it - The electorate vote in the government and your beloved tories are obviously not up to the job at the moment."

Yes there is. You complain about wealth distribution and its effects on the poor. How would you rectify this? Presumably you would like to redistribute the wealth. The problem with that is that it cannot be done. Taxing the super rich massively means they will up sticks and go elsewhere. So tax the slightly better well off heavily knowing that they cannot simply uproot.

I don't think they pay much tax in Saudi - Maybe you could all go and live there?"
Rule Number 1 - Assuming that you have a valid contract in place always try to get your poo onto your timesheet, provided that the timesheet is valid for your current contract and covers the period of time that you are billing for.

            I preferred version 1!

At no point did I say that subsiding dinosaurs was the answer - I said that there are other ways of stimulating growth in the economy. Ways that Thatcher chose to ignore so that the few prospered at the expense of many.

Tebbit's 'on yer bike' comments pretty much summed up the couldn't give a toss attitude at the time, and you wonder why people no longer trust the tories? As I have repeated several times, I am not saying labour are, or ever have, been any better - Just questioning the fawning attitude prevalent on this board to all things blue.

                For example............

Take sheffield. How would you cope with a city whose main employer was closing because there was no market for its product because it could be produced cheaper elsewhere?

I thought he was talking about people moving to areas where there was work.

Any Manchester United supporter worth his salt would know that referring to the team as Man U identifies you as a post euro 96 bandwagon jumping armchair supporting numpty.

So why the constant bleating about IT offshoring on these boards?

Oh yes, it doesn't suit YOU
