    Cooking TV recipes

..I'm going through Nigel Slater's Simple Suppers, from the programme that was put on when the Man U game got cancelled.

Just about to make the lamb hotpot.

A couple of weeks ago I did the Hairy Biker's Christmas stew.

    I'm finding it quite fun.

(But hoping there's no correlation between this and Mr C currently in bed and poorly. Maybe using that turkey from the freezer yesterday wasn't such a great idea... ).

I am absolutely rubbish in the kitchen but of late have decided that at the age of 34 it's time I learned at least the basics. Am currently working my way through the following:

Gordon Ramsay's - Cooking for Friends
    America - Jamie Oliver
    Baking - Rachel Allan

I did a disastrous steamed pudding yesterday but an excellent trout in dijon mustard

Using my benchtime to catch up on all the cookbooks I have amassed over the last year, so far, I've managed to get through:

New Food of Life: Ancient Persian and Modern Iranian Cooking and Ceremonies
        Chinese Cuisine (Wei-Chuan's Cookbook)
        The Revolutionary Chinese Cookbook
        Chinese food in minutes
        Far Eastern cookery

And I have yet to get through

        The Escoffier
        Fat Duck cookbook
        Creole
        Grande Livre de Cuisine

I want to buy Je Sais cuisinnier, but in French rather than English. Where some women have shoes, I buy cookbooks and have about a hundred or so.

Ah well, I can use the benchtime to also practice my old chef skills (from my former life and plan B).

Have you tried the baked camembert recipe, it is sooooo nice.

I really like his style of writing. You shoudl get his "Kitchen Diaries", it's a really good read.

He's about the only TV chef that I can watch without yelling " you can't do that at the TV". His books are pure p0rn

I'm also a nightmare when going out for dinner, but when you've worked in the industry you tend to be a tad picker than normal.
