Many moons ago I had a Morris Minor which never got stuck in the snow. The skinny tyres plus a couple of flagstones and some bags of sand in the boot helped.

      Serious question.
      Yes!

Spent over 20 years offroading (All Weather)

      + 3 years Rallying

6 years Trails riding (won the Welsh twinshock trophy)

My driving skills are not in question. What's in question is the Golf's tendency to lose the back end even at the slowest speeds (all tyres are less than a month old as well).
I think it may be the a combination of harder suspension and make-up of the tyres. they are rather a hard composite.
and yes I have tried deflating with no detectable improvement in performance.

Have you tried fitting snow chains?

Phew, glad I decided not to travel to Ireland to see the folks, the flight I should have been coming back on today from Knock was cancelled.

              It's nice to be right.
Knock first as I might be balancing my chakras.

We're going Christmas Eve Morning...from Manchester (assuming it's open!)

                  I wouldn't bet on it.

                      good luck!

We're supposed to be driving down to Kent as well as picking up the Turkey on the way down.
