Watched Moon last night.

Very good. Proper, intelligent Science Fiction.

I just watched it too, brilliant.

It's the sort of film you can't describe without giving the plot away, you've just got to watch it.

Blade Runner

I listened to an interview with one of the consultants on Blade Runner; he devised the test they did to see if you were human. Interviewer asked why the tests were created; he said to check if someone was a psychopath. When asked who funded his research, he said the CIA needed some way of finding new recruits.

He was in Ireland to screen the prisoners for release under the Good Friday agreement.

Really? The book on which the film is based Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? has details of these tests. And in my opinion done rather better than in the film. It was published in 1968.

So these tests were not devised by a consultant who worked on the film.

Watched it the other day, it's what science fiction should be, thoughtful with some resonance.

The other day I happened to view a fascinating program on the making of the Bladerunner movie - no computers were involved in this dysutopia - it involved hours of painstaking sets and creative use of lighting - apparently Philip K Dick was shown a preview of the movie - he was astonished as it was exactly as he had envisaged the book which he had written.

Having viewed Avatar on Sunday in Edinburgh - it still pales in comparison with Bladerunner at every level - especially the music score by Vangelis - all on a budget of 2 million bucks - which is chicken feed.

Avatar is OK - but IMHO a tad overhyped.

Have you seen Time Bandits? Don't see the connection to the other two films.

Westworld gets my vote.
