I get it.
Basically DimPrawn is acting as a hedge fund: he buys oil futures and if they go up then he'll make money that will be taken from his pocket at the petrol station, and if oil falls he'll save money on fuel he buys there.
The trick is to put only so much in futures so that your gains/losses would reflect actual fuel costs at the pump.
