I would have made much more hanging on, but don't have time to keep an eye, got to head off. As I was in profit I happily closed my position.

        Here is wisdom:

Nobody ever went broke taking profits.
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

Don't get greedy. £300 sounds like a very nice tax-free lump of money for a few hours of doing nothing.

If it get's near that again I'd pocket it and have a nice weekend knowing you have a bigger pot to play with next time oil gets near the $80 upper or $76 lower areas it currently trades in.

Not bad for doing nothing, and all tax free.
Be careful not to make too much. Those nice chaps at HMRC can decree it's a trade and then it becomes taxable. You're almost certainly safe (case law is on your side) but don't give up the day job.

Desire Petrolium have a rig being towed out, for arrival in Feb. A few other companies are also having a go.

Falklands Oil & Gas is sid to be worth £75 a share on successful drilling of it's Loligo field (one of many)
Hey although I'm a complete lurker on this board, I thought I'd post that I popped a bit of the house deposit on Desire and Rockhopper last Friday. They start drilling in the North Basin in February. Falklands Oil & Gas have tranches in the South Basin which is far deeper water and haven't yet secured a rig. Anyway, there are about 3/4 million penguins in the Falklands and about 3 thousand people, oh plus a few sheep.

P.s. Spread betting is pure gambling.

Yep. Made a bit of a goof up and am looking at a £300 loss at the moment.

                      Waiting for the turn up.
