According to google route map this can be done from London in around 7 hours. Anyone done this? Timing seems optimistic at best. Any real world experience?

Depends how fast you go.
I've made it from Calais to the Nürburgring in ~4 hours before, so about 3 hours to get to the border.
However I've also done the same trip and spent 2 hours just getting round the Brussels Ring Road.
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.Comment

We did from the Hook of Holland to Essen in approximately just over 2 hours.
Obeyed the speed limits where designated then cranked it up to 140mph on the Autobahn. (I wasn't driving and I was a bit scared to say the least...even worse, nutters screaming past us at 180mph+)Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It takes me about 7 hours from Darmstadt to London. From Köln to Calais its about 3-4 hours but driving through Belguim is so boring.
