Re. heating one chip
Radator thermostats would allow you to heat just one room.
- OK very ineffecient and would probably mean a lot of plumbing.
Re. moving somewhere warm
How about moving the office to a naturally warmer spot in the house?

Put an advert in the local newsagents for a room to let very very cheaply. When the tramps turn up, show them in, hit them over the head and set fire to them. Burning tramps are great, all that meths and grease makes them really blaze.bloggoth
