My phone has been busier now than it was when I was looking for a contract 2 months ago.
When I do pick up the call I get no hint of fishing, in fact as soon as the agent hears I'm already in a contract they get off the phone ASAP.
The timing for this surge seemed to be a bit early for the september surge for 3 weeks now I've been having to screen calls or i'd be spending more time on the phone to agents than on facebook.
I think that a lot of projects which have been on hold over the past 9 months have suddenly been given a green light as financial confidence increases.
There is also the risk of not going ahead with certain projects which is starting to outweigh the cash savings benefit of continuing to stall.Coffee's for closersComment

Now the economy is 'fixed' the banks will come clean with the really bad news they've been waiting to tell us. Cue stock market meltdown. Cue mass lay-offs and culling of contractors. This September's Surge will only be happening on the bench and in the bankruptcy courts.Cats are evil.Comment

Zilch
I've been out since start of July. First week or 2 barely nothing. Between mid-July and end of August fielding between 3 to 8 calls per day. Last thursday morning, agent suggested I rewrite my CV which I did. Since then 0 phone calls. I put some of the old versions of my CV out last night thinking it may be the revised CV that's the issue but still haven't had a call.
I'm still awaiting the result of 3 interviews with 1 company for a permie role. I originally applied when I was first made redundant. The hiring manager was on holiday until yesterday and got an email today from the HR lady (I applied direct) telling me she'd chase him up today. Must be the longest job application in history by now.Last edited by mace; 2 September 2009, 14:16.Comment

What I used to do was to remove and replace my CV from all the big sites once a month to make sure I was always at the top of the pile. Was noticable that if I forgot to do it calls tailed off very quickly."Being nice costs nothing and sometimes gets you extra bacon" - Pondlife.Comment

Process Engineering has been a good place to be the last few years. But now.......... I can't remember the last time my phone rang with a genuine gig. It is completely, utterly dead and very scary right now.Public Service Posting by the BBC - Bloggs Bulls**t Corp.
