Yep, that's about right. Snag is the agencies launch their trawlers on you fishing for leads. I now publish my CV as a last resort if all my networking has failed. I don't think I have ever been called about a gig yet that I have landed by posting my CV on a job board.

So, is it still too early for the September surge?

I'm still seeing the same old fishing ads on Jobserve in my field.

Traditionally, how long does this surge last for until it goes quiet again?

I think the Sept surge maybe late this year if our place is anything to go by.

As budgets were limited earlier in the year, we now have project x3 in the queue for funding. Approvals are taking much longer, more documents are requested etc.

Please hold, Sept surge will be with you asap.

I got a call last week about a role at decent rate and it is looking pretty positive. Current client just offered me an extension and had to tell them that they are going to have to wait to see how this other role pans out.

I've noticed an increase in fishing calls.
Haven't put my cv out recently.

My standard jobserve search normally returns 300-400 ads during the good times.
This has been running around 150 per day recently.
Thought things were picking up this lunchtime when I ran it and it hit 120.
17:10 it's sitting at 150. B@gger. Back to chopping wood....

August on jobstats looks like a new all time low. Looks even lower than Dec 2002

Great, and there's me just having quit my new permie job after 2.5 months, wasn't for me.

On the plus side though, Plan B and other 'running an actual business' clients are looking good at the moment financially so mebbe i wont have to look too hard yet.
