The last two interviews I've had, wearing no tie, I've been accepted, and the last one I had *with* a tie I flunked.

Next time, if my required skills are borderline, I may try turning up with no trousers.
no way i would turn up not suited and booted. ever.

      well maybe not ever.

the agent or interviewer advised me up-front not to.

or if it is on the phone.

Yeah good luck Richard, I was out for 1 year back in 2001 after Sep 11th and it sucked and so did those interviewing. Still I bounced back and so will you; you just have to be tenacious and devious.

Ah, well that explains it. As I had no tie *or* hankerchief, they matched vacuously.

That's a long time to spend in an interview, non stop, without even a drink of water.

I have thought that in the past. Once I was approaching 40 as a washed-up programmer with no up-to-date skills, no decent references, no degree and no formal qualifications I thought the same.

You may never work again doing the jobs you have done; but why would you want to? There's 1001 different things out there and there might be another one you can do.

Impressed? No. I did that and we sold the house somewhere in 2001/2/3. Still paying them off. tulip happens. You don't die unless you kill yourself.

Why? Zeity occasionally posts here. Cyberman retired in 1973 and he still posts on here.

Can you quote you NI number without thinking? When you can, you'll be entitled. Those of us that've been there can.

Well, do that then. It is a valid kind of work: white hat security work.

Top Tip: you haven't failed until you've stopped trying. I have made 295 applications to get this first face-to-face interview. And there's nothing actually wrong as such with my CV (too many years experience, no up to date techie skills). That's how tulip it is out there at the moment for PMs.

It's OK, I felt your presence.

The gold one had a curry stain. The silver one doesn't go with the suit. I wore the RN one I obtained and save for formal occasions.

It is a PM role for an IT services Co servicing central government; you couldn't be more wrong! A bowler and pin stripes would be spot on. I went for the pin stripes...

Must be out of the interview by now. RC, get your iPhone out and post how you did.
At 97 minutes in, we were only just getting started.
