Spring must have arrived - the happy bunnies are out!
633 applications.
Averaging about 3 to 4 applications per working day.
1 telephone interview - "Not got right kind of experience" (i.e. I have public sector experience).
1 face-to-face 'interview' that was just free consultancy.
1 telephone interview - "Not got experience" feedback (which defied belief) and I think it was free consultancy.
1 face-to-face interview that was then filled internally (which I think they intended all along).
1 telephone interview for a sales role (I wish they'd said that up beforehand).
1 telephone interview - outcome unknown as agency never returned calls.
1 face-to-face which went horribly wrong yet...
I start on Monday.- Project management.
- My niche field (they never found a 2nd person to interview).
- Paying 50% MORE than I was seeking. (85% of the highest rate I have been on.)
- Probably over a year's work.
- Agency is paying weekly.
(And the really scary bit? The money was finally going to run out completely 2nd week in Feb. I was going to phone my Dad this weekend and - well, I don't really know what I was going to say. All far too close for comfort.)
A highly polished, indoor, top quality position on the bench (with cushions and beer-chiller thrown in) will be appearing on eBay shortly. My all-time favourite Dilbert cartoon, this is: BTW, a Dumpster is a brand of skip, I think.Comment
