I've applied for six contract gigs and one permie role today.

I've had two calls from agents saying they will be calling me with dates/times for interviews - is is interesting and the other is utter pants (but I shall do it for the practice).

Now I'm of to the Job Centre to see if they will pay for me to do the Scrum Master course & exam. Don't ask, don't get...

Do you mind me asking if you've been unemployed for more than 6mths? And did you anywhere with asking for the scrum master course?

I've got another review next week, been over 6 mths for me.. and the woman who sees me is trying to get me to do any job at all (which is their job). Wanted to see if I could get anything else out of them..... but I'd be surprised, last time I was there didn't seem that forthcoming.

I have been signing on for 14 weeks.

Yep. I handed in the form and was told everyone was too busy to see me. Someone rang me today to make an appointment for me to see them on Thursday. At that meeting we shall be going through the form and, if he's happy, he will arrange a meeting with the funding authoriser. If, at the meeting with the funding authoriser, the funding authoriser says "Yes", then they will arrange a meeting with the training arranger. If, at the meeting with the training arranger, the training arranger says "Yes", then they will arrange a meeting about where / when and so on, in preparation for asking the funding provider to provide funding, but they'll tell me more about that part of the process nearer the time. If we get that far. And if I live that long.

The chap I'm seeing on Thursday can't see me when I sign on tomorrow. He's on a course.

But since my day job is getting civil servants to bend to my will and writing business cases for funding, I'm feeling a teeny bit optimistic.

But they'll probably send me off to an ECDL instead.
