I suspect from your OP that you need a Plan B.
Have you thought about what you want to do once you've made your millions from IT? That may well be your Plan B, perhaps?
If you can keep a picture of that in your head, you'll find it helpful I'm sure.

There lies your problem with motivation, a problem I wouldn't mind having.Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave JohnsonComment

I say you need a dirty woman and a fridge full of beer.
You've come right out the other side of the forest of irony and ended up in the desert of wrong.

To be honest don't want to be in IT at all.
When I was told I would get a contract ext. I wasn't happy at all. I was hoping I wouldn't get a renewal.
I feel that at 35 I've peaked.
Ditto also on your other points, manager and permie - not for me. I am working on PlanB which is IT related but doesn't involve me hacking code (much) or repeatedly having to relearn stuff. You ain't seen me, right!Comment
