I thought long and hard about a plan B. I've got a couple of ideas but haven't done anything about it yet. Mortgage paid off and a good war chest built up.Originally posted by Menelaus View PostMr N-M
I suspect from your OP that you need a Plan B.
Have you thought about what you want to do once you've made your millions from IT? That may well be your Plan B, perhaps?
If you can keep a picture of that in your head, you'll find it helpful I'm sure.

There lies your problem with motivation, a problem I wouldn't mind having.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave JohnsonComment

But so many men these days have only a dirty fridge and woman full of beer.Originally posted by EternalOptimist View PostPeople say that you need the love of a good, strong family and financial security.
I say you need a dirty woman and a fridge full of beer.
You've come right out the other side of the forest of irony and ended up in the desert of wrong.

Exactly the same here, I had a good 6 years with VB with minimal changes and revisions. Now with .NET, MS seem to be rolling out new technologies for the hell of itOriginally posted by MrNoMotivation View PostDon't want to learn new technologies.
Don't want to be permie.
Don't want to be a manager.
To be honest don't want to be in IT at all.
When I was told I would get a contract ext. I wasn't happy at all. I was hoping I wouldn't get a renewal.
I feel that at 35 I've peaked.
! I'm using Framework 2 and now version 4 is in beta and I cannot be @rsed to get to grips with yet another MS rollout.
Ditto also on your other points, manager and permie - not for me. I am working on PlanB which is IT related but doesn't involve me hacking code (much) or repeatedly having to relearn stuff. You ain't seen me, right!Comment

Same motivational dilemma here. Been in the same dying skillset for about 10 years now but can't be bothered to learn new skills. Feel like sitting at home all day long or going on an adventure out of this wrecked country.Originally posted by gingerjedi View PostThere lies your problem with motivation, a problem I wouldn't mind having.
