So where is the campaign to move our accounts away from Lloyds?

Having all my accounts with LLoyds (Current/savings/joint/joint savings/business/credit card) I have actually considered closing them and moving to another company. We probably have at least 200 grand in all of them so it would not be something that would be taken lightly by the bank.

As an individual I doubt it would make a difference, they would probably just outsource more work to make up for it. I would say that if there was a campaign to do this which was recognised by the bank I would probably quite happily follow it.

You know what I'm gonna say ......
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

Exactly. In case you missed my meaning - deposit protection limits

But I suppose that is not really relevant anymore.

I took the view that if Lloyds crashed we would have much more to worry about. Most of it is the profits from out house sale 2 years ago and most if it is going towards the deposit from my new house in 4 weeks. Mortgage with NR as well. .

So I really will be taking 200 grand away from the goverment and borrowing another 300 from them. It is like living in the USSR.

Bollocks. We stopped the earlier rush to bring in non-EU workers by getting IT off the skills shortages lists and by driving the changes to points-based qualifications and the new tiered visa schemes. There's no reason we won't win the argument to prevent blatant abusing of the new system.

You have missed the point I think:

ICT's are just a tiny percentage of the problem, some would say insignificant. Maybe 100-300,000 jobs.
The western IT market has lost in the region of 10 million jobs to lower paid areas over the past 10 years. Thats what you should have tried to stop, but you are 10 years too late, these jobs will never come back and now that the offshore market has matured- low end jobs already gone, they are gunning for the work that was undertaken by independent contractors up until recently. They will do your job for 20% of what you will work for and you have no way to compete with that.

Most of the jobs that have been switched over are fairly low level stuff up. The problem is that ICTs are a far greater threat to people in this level of IT. This year I was working for a substantial financial who employ a few hundred contractors and was told on the QT that they are going to replace all their UK based contract work with ICTs.
