You're not from Newcastle, are you?
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God? - Epicurus

COS = Church of Scotland? (not taking a shot at you, I simply don't recognise the acronym so seeking clarification).

I'm hugely anti religion (apart from Pastafarianism), but I strongly support the rights of people to believe in whatever mythology suits them, so long as they don't try to force the faith or the practices of the faith on me.

This whole knighthood thing has to stop, if it's not corrupt politicians paying for them then we have tax avoider and child slave labour exploiter extraordinaire Sir Philip Green, Sir Fred Goodwin, Robert Mugabe and Ted Kennedy. That's reason enough to overthrow the Royal Family.

You tell me? You were very clearly stating anti Catholic messages in a couple of weeks ago in the "what are you doing this weekend" thread.

Sir Alex Ferguson clearly stated he was 'asked' to leave Rangers when he married a Catholic, I am going to believe a knight of the realm when he was told to train in the Ibrox tunnel due to his marriage to a papist no matter what your tulipty little club and its stinking rioting fans thinks.

            COS is church of Scotland.

I am all for religious tolerance but in Glasgow the orange order who are an anti Catholic movement get to walk up and down our streets for 3 months a year. The annoying this is that I will have a half a million quid house and that mob drag the filth up from the outer schemes to march past my house telling me I am not welcome in this country.

I simply wave my prada wallet at them.

No need to abolish it. It just ceases to be the established church of England. Or even just becomes separated from government, as the Church of Scotland is in Scotland.

The Church of Scotland is entirely independent of the State in Scotland. I see no reason why the Church of England should not have the same position in England. Not that it is my business, except where the Church of England presumes some power that would affect Scotland. After all, there is no reason why the King of the Scots should be a member of the Church of England!

Actually for over a century after its establishment of the Church of Scotland as the state religion* in 1650 by the Parliament of Scotland, the King remained Catholic and opposed to Protestantism. Probably because of this, the Kirk is the state religion but it and the government are completely independent. It seems normal.

Incidentally I do not know whether establishment or disestablishment of a church is a devolved matter for the Scottish Parliament, or is reserved to Westminster. But it could become interesting.

              * Strictly speaking the Scottish Parliament established Presbyterianism as the State Religion, not State Church; and then set up the Church of Scotland to be the church of that religion. So technically any other Presbyterian church in Scotland would have an equal claim to be a state church.

Prince Charles has admitted that he will change his title to Defender of the Faiths and not Defender of the Faith when he gets 'in'.

Your lot resent our presence and resent our presence in this country. And you know why you really resent our schools? It is because we have a higher educational standard, Catholic schools in Glasgow out perform non demoinational schools on every level.
I try but I cannot find in this a refutation of the claim by Incognito that Catholicism is a religion of intolerance. All you are doing is condemning the anti-catholic intolerance, football-related or not, that is sadly widespread in the West of Scotland.

In this I completely agree with you, but I'm am afraid that in what he says I agree with Incognito too. The Roman Catholic Church has spent more centuries burning people for apostasy and heresy, than radical Islam has spent cutting off heads for free thinking. If it does not do so any longer, it is because the Protestants have fought for the right to stay alive after disagreeing with the Catholic Church's doctrines.

PS all faith schools, and in fact all "dissident" schools of any kind, as well as home-schooling, perform better than the average state school: I rather suspect that it is due to the high degree of commitment and involevment that it takes to do this, rather than any doctrinal superiority.

The Prime Minister / government select knighthoods, not the Queen. It has been so for a long time.
