Israel should never have existed, it was misplaced guilt. Jews hadn't lived in Palestine since Hadrian dispersed them circa 130 CE. We should have given them a Duchy on German soil after the War.

Imagine if a descendent of previous owner of your house was badly treated somewhere, not by yourself, and they said "I need to go back to my ancestors house"; the authorities then come around and give them half of it and the best bits to boot!!!

Oddly enough whilst watching a documentary last night on the creation of the Colleseum - it turns out that when the Romans invaded Palestine then captured the Temple which the Jews had buit - the riches from this booty went into the kitty for the wages for building the Colleseum - on top of that revenue from the sale of captured slaves were sold to finance the Colleseum as well , but revenue from the Temple treasure was required to pay highly skilled tradesmen, slaves did mailny grunt work or domestic duties.

Yep, old Vespesian and Titus they needed the money as the later Julio Claudian lot spent the treasury. On the arch of Titus in the Forum you can see a relief of the Romans carrying off the treasure from the Temple including that famous candlestick thing. It survived in rome until Alaric the Goth sacked Rome in 410 CE.

I'm not bothered by rights to land, as long as it is reasonably fair. Which has never happened anywhere in the world admittedly.

I am more concerned about the humanistic side of things. This is far more important than religion / who has rights to what land. All I want to see is an end to human suffering caused by wars based on ideology.
